Highlighted Wingtips

On my normal commute on the subway yesterday, a young man's pair of shoes caught my attention. He wore grey suede wingtip shoes with a bright yellow sole. I have been obsessed with the bold highlighter color this summer with my clothing choices so I was immediately drawn to these.

Upon further research, I found that these are Cole Haan LunarGrand Wingtip shoes, which include inner cushioning and gripping technology on the soles for comfort and accelerated walking. These were released for the Spring 2012 line so they are on sale now for $198.00 (originally $248.00). They also come in a variety of colors. These are my fave color choices:

Poolside Grey, Cole Haan
Navy, Cole Haan

Not only are these comfy, but can also be worn to add a touch of class and color to any outfit. As shown when spotted on the subway, these look sleek with dark blue jeans, but can also be worn with other shades of denim including grey or black. These are appropriate for the office place but also for a date or happy hour. These are also a nice twist to the classic wingtip shoe and can show some fun while also being professional. Pair these with a patterned pair of socks and you'll be sure to grab some attention.  Why not be comfortable, fun and stylish at the same time, right?

Crop it to me!

This summer, crop tops have been back in a big way and fairly practical in the hot, humid weather.  One warm evening, I ventured over to TopShop in Soho to see what the options might be.

TopShop, $12
There was a wide variety of crop tops in a plethora of colors, designs and lengths.  I'm not sure if it was the adrenaline to shop, the delirium from not eating or getting overly excited about crop tops, but I ended up leaving with two crop tops, one black and one white. Here is a sample of some of the crop tops that Top Shop had to offer:
TopShop, $52

TopShop $24
Anyone else pick up some fun crop tops for the season?

Fun with Fashion!

When I was growing up, my sister and I would play with our Barbie dolls and pretend they were in a Miss USA-like contest in our hallway. We would dress them up in their fanciest outfits and line them up against the wall. I would always save the prettiest dress for my favorite doll.

Since then, I have always had a lot of fun with fashion. I even purchased a dress solely because it resembled one of my favorite Barbie dresses! Maybe nostalgia or plain ridiculousness but I love the way clothing can change your mood, remind you of a very special memory, fuel your goals (I want to fit into my fave dress again!), express your individuality and make a statement without any words.
Living in New York has definitely reignited my enthusiasm for fashion. Let's celebrate the playfulness of all things fashion: the bright, the bold, the ridiculous, the funky and the fun!
